Yellowstone.....

Got my fishing license upon entering and within an hour I was knee deep in trout.
Grilled cheese sandwiched for lunch....ate ‘em at one of the roadside pullouts with a view of Yellowstone Lake. It’s great to be able to cook in the camper as well as get a cold drink from the fridge anytime I want.

Snuck up to the second floor showers at the Old Faithful Inn and took a long hot one....they have updated the showers in the inn.....they are posh....showerheads the size of a Frisbee.

To Lamar.....first encounter with a wildlife traffic jam. These are fun events not just because you usually see some cool animal, but you see some pretty crazy behavior by humans as well. People go nuts trying to get a photo, leave their cars in the middle of the road and get as close to the animal as possible. Then there is the other side....the people who just want to get thru....they are honking their horns in a vain attempt to somehow clear the road. This time it was a small black bear right next to the road.....and a lady 2 cars back absolutely fuming mad..... She said out loud that she hoped the bear’s mother was around and mauled some of these people. It was tough to sympathize with her.....people come to the park to see animals. I wondered where she had to be so bad.

There was a lot of road construction in the park this season so it took a while to get anywhere. After arriving in the Lamar Valley I saw two grizzly cubs through some guy’s scope. My plan was to be the first guy at the Slough Creek campground and claim one of its coveted 29 spots before the crack of dawn the next day....so after dark I exited the park to Cook City and set my alarm for early.
